Project Description

As part of the £70 million expansion of Aldi headquarters at Atherstone, J A Burke were appointed by DSP Construction Management to provide services on four contracts relating to the project. The extension to the North Block which included a pumping station and rising main designed and commissioning by JA Burke, foundations for the new mezzanine, construction of new gate house and the construction of the new energy village. 

These multiple contracts have been completed over the last 2.5 years. All work took place while the Aldi HQ was open and operational 24 hours a day. This presented a very challenging environment to work on as our workforce had to observe restriction on access with a greater emphasis on the health and safety and environmental.

Working with DSP Construction Management we were provide the following –

  • 278 works to form new entrance including Traffic Management by J A Burke 
  • Bulk muck shift 
  • Bulk reduce level dig 
  • Concrete floor slabs to 4 floors 
  • Concrete plinths and hard standings 
  • Construction of new energy village and gas 
  • Construction of new pad foundations within the existing Central Building 
  • Deep drainage including alterations to existing 
  • Floor slabs including concrete to upper floors
  • Foundations and reinforced beams and pile caps 
  • Interceptors – design and commissioned by J A Burke 
  • Major external works including new road construction in tarmac, block paving and landscaping
  • Major service infrastructure 
  • Mass fill foundations 
  • New car parks and alterations to existing 
  • New service installation including in situ pits 
  • Pre cast retaining structures to perimeter – design and installed by J A Burke
  • Pumping Station and rising main – design and commissioned by J A Burke
  • Reinforced ground beams and caps 
  • Water proofing works
